Basic Swimming Techniques

Swimming has several types. Before we learn about swimming styles, it is very important for you to learn a number of basic techniques that we must master first. Come on, let’s review it so we can become more skilled at swimming.

1. Floating Technique

For beginners, this technique is not easy. When doing it for the first time or during the first practice, usually the body is still stiff. The key to doing this technique is that the body is advised to relax and remain calm. The more anxious you are, the more likely it is that your body will sink. To practice this technique, you can do 2 types of tricks, namely floating standing or floating on your back.

To practice standing floating skills, you need to stand at the edge of the pool. For safety, choose a swimming pool that is not deep. Make sure everything is safe and slowly, start diving with your hands holding on to the edge of the pool. After that, take a deep breath and try to push your body away from the edge of the pool. Position your hands and feet parallel above the water. Remember to move your hands like chicken wings flapping and your legs move like your legs when doing the chest type.

2. Breathing Technique

Breathing is very important in swimming because a swimmer’s ability and speed are very much controlled by your breathing ability. First, you stand on the edge of the pool low, but make sure your level is still on the surface of the water. Second, breathe through your mouth. Hold it for a few days and put your head in water. Remember to exhale through your nose. What you need to know is to inhale through your mouth and exhale through your nose. Don’t turn around, okay?

Third, which is also very important, practice continuously until you get a unique breathing pattern according to your own potential. Experts recommend that you do breathing exercises 10-15 times after exercise so that your breath is strong.

3. Dashing Technique

This technique is an attempt to equalize the body at the start of swimming. The darting technique involves launching the body horizontally under water. First, you enter the pool and stand with your back to the pool wall. Then one of the soles of the feet is placed against the wall with the toes facing downwards. This position is important to increase the surface area of the repulsion model when shooting.

Second, by using your legs, push your body to move forward. Next, position both hands parallel to the plate in front to break the water until a little of the model is thrown away due to water resistance. You must set your head in the water and keep your ears level with both arms.
