Many people like seafood (seafood). For example, fish, squid, shrimp, clams, and others. Besides tasting delicious, seafood also contains many nutrients that are good for the health of the body. These include protein, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids. Here are the functions of seafood for health that must be known:

1. Healthy Heart

Seafood contains lots of omega-3 fatty acids. This content can help nourish the heart, including reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases such as strokes, heart attacks, and heart arrhythmias. The study found that age-related macular degeneration (medium part of the eye) tends to shrink in people who regularly eat seafood. Consuming fish oil can also keep your eyes healthy and bright.

Omega-3 fatty acids in seafood can increase brain capacity. This is because seafood can increase the levels of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic (DHA), so they are good for helping brain development (especially for infants and children). In fact, a study explains that someone who regularly eats seafood (such as fish) has more gray matter in the center of the brain which plays a role in regulating emotions and memory.

5. Maintain Mental Health

Eating seafood not only prevents depression, but can also help overcome depression. A study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health said that women who eat seafood have a lower risk of depression than those who don’t eat it. This is because seafood contains lots of omega-3 fatty acids which can increase the processing of the hormones dopamine and serotonin in the brain. These two hormone models play a role in creating happy situations and preventing depression.

6. Maintain Skin Health

The EPA content in seafood is believed to be able to block collagen-destroying enzymes, so it can protect the skin from sun exposure, prevent wrinkles, and repair damaged skin. This is stated by a study published in the Journal of Lipid Research th. 2005.
